Cars Go Green - Hybrid Cars Questions

Question: Which car do you prefere?

( Back )

Answer #1:

eh neither

Answer #2:

prius

Answer #3:

A good friend of mine owned a Honda Insight and loved it! The interior was very spacious and comfortable and had enough pickup so you would not feel you were going to get killed merging onto a highway. And of course, the gas mileage was excellent. Unfortunatly, he was in a car accident that totalled the vehicle but they liked their insight so much so that they bought another.

Answer #4:

neither...

Answer #5:

don't get either

Answer #6:

First of all the Honda is not a true hybrid with a gas engine and electric boost as it does not have synergy drive, cannot drive in just gas or just electric all though not recomended with Prius as both electric and gas are used in unison to charge mostly when braking and that is why a Prius goes 120MPH and 0-60 in 7.6 with a 1.8 engine and batteries while Honda uses regular engine with elctric boost like a golf cart when you press on pedal you head is held back by torque which if car used just gas it will use a lot to get started. You only gain about 5-8 extra MPH and has not been tested long while Prius and Rav have been hybrid in Japan since 1996.

The recalls were media hype as admitted by Obama. People say but it is a lot of recalls but usually recalls are sent to customer in mail and not mentioned much. In past 20 years Toyota has had 11% of recalls while nearest is 24% by Honda and Ford is 44% and GM is 52%. It was to help GM and others pick up sales but anybody who asks the truth or realizes knows this is true. People that believe this was not hype just bury your head and watchmore TV. THE WHOLE THING STARTED BY PEOPLE NOT USING HOOKS THAT HOLD RUG MAT DOWN ARE NOT USED AS PEOPLE DO NOT READ OR ASK WHAT THEY DO. There are 1 death which is unproven that it was a faulty toyota and 33 accidents with again could have been anything as i saw a lady complaining with 10.00 matts in front that belong in back pushed under accelerator which would happen in any car.

Toyota employs more then top 3 together below them, have more US factories then same and more, and make 12billion in US in a quarter and have 50 billion in US banks. IF they moved to another country like Canada or Mexico we would be in a deep depression with guess's of US unemploment at above 15% nationwide with millions more out of work.

Obama held a news conferance saying what i did that it was media(TV and newspaper) that blew way out of propportion and he was very sorry. At congressional hearings the commitee knew nothing especially the later on speakers who could not fix a bike and a woman said to fix the trunk so it will not open and was interupted when another member told her. Mr. Toyoda, who can break US was disrespected so much that if he fully uinderstood the english language as it translates different although he speakes it among 6 others. If Obama was talked like that he would leave and ? maybe call war like Iraq who did nothing except live their culture and we want to chnage the world while we are and have been losing ground to poverty and it is speeding up. One last question that has nothing to do with UScars. How does Brazil have such a monetary position and self sufficent ,amking their gas and hardly any crime or pollution when it is as big as a few states.

Answer #7:

If you like the prius it should be a good time for a great deal an extra 500 in your pocket would be good..good luck both great cars

Answer #8:

The recall is a media scandal to get American Car Companies some business. Type Ford Recall of 2009 in google-it has about 4 times more cars than Toyota.

Prius is much better looking, gets better mpg, and has a more luxurious cabin. The insight's interior looks very generic.

The 2010 Prius is best of them all, but the 2005-09 are good as well if that is all you can afford.

Good luck.

Answer #9:

I hate Hybrid, Toyota and Honda.
The three put together smell unreliability, cheapness, slowness and HELL to most Petrolheads.
However, I adore the Toyota Supra a lot. I would like a turbocharged one please. Get it? Hey??

Honda cause Prius is gay and small.

Insight looks cooler as well.

Answer #10:

Do a comparison test on the two cars, but, on my opinion, go with the Toyota.

Answer #11:

Which is better depends on which one you like. The Prius has more room, it's a mid sized car, and fewer mechanical parts, the Honda is cheaper to buy. The Prius also has more power.

Don't worry about the recalls, most don't affect the Prius and the ones that do are kind of silly. Here are the main candidates that are popular in the media:

Floormats: Did you put an aftermarket floor mat on top of the Toyota one? If so, then it's possible for the mat to ride up and jam the accelerator pedal--pretty much like in any car.

Sticky accelerator pedal: This affects only Toyotas made in North America that have parts from CTS. All Prius are made in Japan so they're not affected. Note that this would also affect Ford and GM cars because they purchased the same pedals from CTS.

Brakes: There are four braking systems on the Prius:

1. Regenerative brakes
2. Friction brakes
3. Engine brakes
4. Parking brakes

Generally braking is done with regenerative braking. The friction brakes are used:

A. When more braking force is required than the motors can provide.
B. When any of the safety devices (TC, ABS, VSC, etc.) are activated.
C. When the vehicle speed is under 7 mph.
D. When a fault is detected in the regenerative braking system.
E. When the battery has reached the maximum allowed SOC (state of charge).

You have to really work at it to not be able to stop a Prius. Some Toyota's don't have the same throttle opening cut-off when the brakes are applied that the Prius does. Because the Prius has both friction and regenerative braking, it does have a different feel. When power brakes were first installed in cars, they had a different feel too and there were a lot of complaints about them at the time. Everyone eventually got used to the new feel and the complaints stopped. Out of the over a million Prius sold, there are about 200 complaints, mostly from new owners. This isn't a big percentage.
